With Grandma in town and our 11th Anniversary how could we NOT take advantage. The kids got LOTS of treats and movies. Poor mom got the cold, rainy weather, but the kids didn't seem to mind.
Jake and I REALLY enjoyed being able to feel the warm sunshine after such a long winter. We spent most of our time on the beach, reading books, playing frisbee, taking walks, and talking, talking, talking. So great to spend uninterrupted time with my favorite person. And does it surprise you that we rented bikes? We had a blast riding past the beautiful mansions on the Tampa Bay.
Cool tree!
We found some delicious gelato too.
After another day on the beach we spent the evening visiting Fort de Soto. We barely missed our kayaking opportunity which was a little bit of a bummer, but we found ways to enjoy our time.
Exploring the island and the amazing wildlife, from the birds to the hermit crabs in the water
Watching the sunset.
When we left New Jersey it was mid-70s and we were headed to warmer temperatures. We did not to think to look at the forecast for the day we were coming home. We FROZE!
The kids were super excited to surprise Daddy with all their homemade signs and cards and dollar-store gifts for his birthday
Lighting the chocolate bomb :)

So glad you got to have a little vacation. Dan and I are way overdue...our last one was when we were all in DC together!! It looks like a beautiful place.
You might not realize this, but not all men like to just talk and talk like Jake does. You got really lucky with that one! :)
Too funny about it being cold when you were coming back so Jake pulls the first layer of shorts down....I really laughed at that one. And yes, totally appropriate that you rented bikes!
