My little man

Is two months old...and not so little anymore. He went to the doctor yesterday and weighs 12 pounds 12 ounces and is 23 inches long. As you can see, those thighs are packing it on and you gotta love that double chin. When he got his shots it made me realize how good of a baby he really is, it's the first time I've seen such a red face and tears like that. Poor kid. It didn't take too long for all his smiles and coos to come back. I really love this guy!

One last hurrah...

We took a four day trip down to North Myrtle Beach for one last vacation before Jake starts MBA school in a couple weeks. Rachel was really excited. On the way down it wasn't "are we there yet?" but "I wanna go to the beach" said at least a million times. We stayed in a really nice 3 bedroom condo. When we first got there and took the small tour, Rachel comes to us and says, "I don't like the room." She's higher maintenance than I thought! She loved the ocean the first day...until she got a mouth full of salt water. But there was a nice little "pond" created from low tide that took some heavy bribery to get her out of.
Tommy did superb on the drive down and back, and was such a trooper the entire trip...I think he was born ready for the beach. What do you think?
Jake and I really enjoyed our family vacation! On our last day we rented a Suri (a four man bike) and had an absolute blast!!

Strawberry Pickin'

When I was little and living in California my dad would take us kids strawberry picking on our way to San Francisco day trip. Well, when I learned we could do it here just south of us in South Carolina I thought I'd carry on the tradition...too bad we couln't go to San Francisco too.It didn't take Rachel long to figure out how juicy the strawberries were.
It quickly went from strawberry picking to strawberry eating...I can't blame her though

The labors of our fruits :)The strawberries were so sweet and delicious, I don't think I can ever buy them from the grocery store again. We do have 3 gallon size freezer bags of them, so we're set for a while.

Birthday

Birthday's are so fun with kids. Rachel baked a birthday cake for me from her little play kitchen. She came back to my room singing happy birthday with a hamburger bun in a frying pan with a candle on top. So sweet!!
The girl is obsessed with birthdays. She sings the song at least once a day. She's been looking forward to my birthday for at least a week now, and couldn't wait to open presents. One of her favorite books is "Don't Wake Up Mama!" It's about 5 little monkeys who bake a birthday cake for their Mama. When she came in to our room that morning Jake started quoting the book and she excitedly joined in as they "tiptoed past Mama sleeping." A little while later they came back with a stack of pancakes all lit with candles singing Happy Birthday "very very loudly." Rachel loved doing "just like the book." I had a wonderful day. We had a friend come and watch the kids while Jake and I snuck out to the Cheesecake Factory...SOOOO good. Our first kid free night in over a month. It was quite a treat.
