Phone Photos

My camera is experiencing lens error from sand at the beach.  In other words, it's a goner.  So sad!  The phone can sometimes take great photos, sometimes really terrible ones, especially in low light.  Here are a few of the good ones in the last couple weeks.
Their faces may not show it, but we're enjoying our grape tomatoes
We started feeling a little lonely here with all of our neighbors over seas for the summer and a lot of our ward out west so we took a trip to go see friends. Rachel and Andrew always pick up where they left off.  They get along amazingly...never a single fight.  Unfortunately it made Emmy feel a little left out sometimes.  Tommy was just thrilled to play with all the fun boy toys and Katelyn and Hannah had some funny baby sharing quarrels.

Naragasanchuwat beach.  I had the hardest time getting the name of this beach.  I think it's Narraganset.  They had the perfect waves for boogies boarding.  I has been YEARS since I've been able to do that.  Maria and I went out while Jake kept an eye on all 6 kiddies...such a blast!  My kids even learned how and both caught some great rides.

A beautiful summer morning.  It takes us a while to get out of pjs.

Rehoboth

Jake's parents came to visit us and we took a little vacation to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware.  It's the beach that Jake's family frequented when he was a kid and even one his dad traditionally went to as a youth.  It had been 10 years since Jake's parents had been back and even more for Jake.  It was a fun walk down memory lane for them, and I was happy to finally come to this place I have heard so much about.

We headed down on the Fourth and we were expecting LOTS of traffic and crowds.  To our pleasant surprise there was neither.  Just great hot weather and the same ol' but different Rehoboth.

Our first beach day the kids learned what it feels like to be in a washing machine.  The waves were really strong and they were caught almost every time.  Ahahahaha wipeout!
Tommy: "Are we China diggers?"

This girl LOVES the ocean.  We got lots of comments on how happy and confident she was out there.  She loved going deep and her biggest thrill was when it would catch her by surprise.

The boardwalk

We took a trip to Fun Land everyday after the beach.  With the same prices Tom remembers, it really was a great bargain

My kids loved these glow sticks
We almost gave up on the firework show.  Supposedly 80,000 people gather here to watch it.  Luckily the real one was just delayed and it ended up being quite spectacular.  Rachel serenaded us throughout it with how "nothing's better than this"

Proud to be an American

Off to the beach

Stairs to China
Katelyn wanted to go too

She lost her legs so I made her new ones
I love watching my kids play together, they are so giddy in the waves

More Fun Land

She's a little stinker about treats.  We had a really great tantrum for red licorice!

For those who wonder where she gets her eye color
The whole clan
One night while Jake and I were out Grammie transferred Tommy to our bed because they were kicking each other.  When we went in later we found this...too funny!!

We're lovin' summer!

When Rachel got out of school we made a list of all the things we wanted to do this summer.  We probably crossed off half the list that first day/weekend.  Things slowed down when I came down with a fever for a few days.  The same three days Jake was out of town...what luck huh?

Unlike everyone else around here we are not signed up for any summer camps or taking any extended or exotic vacations, we're just playing.  I am loving the unrushed mornings, the kids playing together, and no schedule whatsoever.  So here are a few things we've been up to.
Playing with friends- tea party, picnic, club...whatever you call it
Baseball games- He really wanted to catch one

Daddy caught something :)

Catching fireflies!!  So fun!!!

Lots of picnics

The kids initiated their own limeade stand

Cute, right?

Daddy was their first customer

We were all getting nervous that Daddy might be their only customer.  Time was passing and so were the cars.  But soon they got plenty, these kids had 2 or 3 each...they loved it!

We're becoming frequent visitors to the farm

Trying to beat the heat without a hose.  Seriously, it's tricky.

Summer is not summer without it

Tommy found a firefly mid day and took it into the dark bathroom and it started glowing

Fun little play at an open air theater

We've scored a few fun things at garage sales the last couple weekends

And of course, lots of time at the pool!
We also went to NYC for a day to take advantage of the splash playgrounds because we don't have any here.  Sadly it happened to be the one cold day out of all this 90+ degree stuff.  At least we got to see old friends.
