Winter Woes

The sun did not shine.
It was too wet to play.
So we sat in the house
All that cold, cold, wet day.
It's the third straight day of rain. I think it's really getting to us. Yesterday Rachel said, "Why does it have to rain every day ALL DAY LONG!...I'm so tired of this weather!" It has been a long cold winter (not a typical Charlotte winter)...

For the past couple of months I have been feeling yucky and extremely exhausted, I haven't been able to accomplish much of anything, I seem to be butting heads a lot with my four year old lately, Tommy and his tantrums, sibling rivaly, my patience is wearing very thin, my husband has been discouraged in attaining the job of his dreams, coming so so close, and growing increasingly weary of his current job and unsure of what to do next, the dread and worry of student loans and other extra expenses, the stomach flu, common colds, what did I do to my shoulder to cause it and my ribs to be so so sore, sleepless nights, my brother has struggled with his Chrone's and had to go through surgery, Jake doesn't have a single PTO day until Memorial Day...

But, we really shouldn't complain. We have a job, a husband/dad who is home by 5:00, good health overall, beautiful kids, supportive friends and family, and Jake and I have each other. It's been a tough time but I have also found a lot of strength in my church meetings, reading the scriptures, and through prayer. We have been learning a lot through these experiences and in trying to find joy in the journey. We have faith in the Lord's plan for us and I really do feel that there is "hope smiling brightly before us" especially with the coming of spring, friends and family visiting, graduation, vacations and yes, a third child :)

So I don't mean to complain, I just thought I'd let you know where we've been...not physically, but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

Valentine's

Our weekend started with a repeat of what happened a couple weeks ago. Daddy's out of town, it snows, Daddy comes home and we spend a fun Saturday together. (Although Jake did have a little bit of school...the countdown is officially 5 Saturdays left of classes!)Luckily we had Valentine's Day to change things up a bit. Jake and I got out Saturday night and enjoyed the most delicious dinner at a Thai restaurant uptown.

These are shirts we made with potatoe stamps one day. A lot of fun, but a little nerve racking...fabric paint is permanent!
Having church that starts at 12:30 gives us a lot of time in the morning. So we had a little fun.
Her only cookie that survived her eager tongue
What a great holiday! I think we all felt really loved!!
