The Good, Bad, and Ugly week

Good: I found a doctor that is willing to accept me for how far along I am and our insurance is all set to go.

Bad: It's up on the Upper West Side

Ugly: Going to my appointment, trying to catch the C train and learning the entrance of the subway is closed due to the World Trade Center construction, hauling 2 kids and a double stroller up and down stairs and up a ramp that is underground that was at least a couple blocks long, arriving with barely enough time before they would cancel the appointment, drenched in sweat, then dealing with two naughty kids jumping on and off the scale, playing with the lights, throwing cars in the garbage and screaming because he can't get it back, another one screaming for the treat I told I would give her if she gave me privacy and me and the doctor yelling at each other because we can't hear each other. I'm embarrassed to go back next week.

Good: Tommy was put into Rachel's swim class which will allow me to watch (especially when the baby comes)

Bad: Tommy had a poopy diaper

Ugly: It leaked bad and the whole pool had to be evacuated and everyone's swim lessons cut short. Embarrassing day #2!

Good: Our house closes on Tuesday!

Bad: We're still taking care of inspection

Ugly: We did everything the inspector and buyer asked. One thing specifically was to clean the mold and put fans in the crawl space to take care of a moisture problem. $400 and a week of hard labor from Jake...done. There was a re-inspection and the inspector wasn't satisfied. Long story short, it became a "deal breaker" and we had to send in moisture specialists to take care of this thing that wasn't even a problem (according to what a couple of good contractor friends tell us as well as the home warranty company)...a couple thousand dollars more! Just frustrating!

Hey Mel,

I hate taking my kids to Dr. appointments. I'm sorry about the mold in your house, but at least you will close and get the house out of your hands!

I think you should get paid the $250,000 Clint Eastwood was played to star in that film, although I think your NY version would be a bigger hit. You're a rock star momma!

This was a very creative way to post your life of the past few days. I think the poop and having the pool closed on account of Tommy would trump just about anything else embarrassing you have ever experienced! Oh, sadly, there will be lots more in the future....I have tons of those kind of days!!!!

oh. my gosh. that IS ugly. I can relate to ugly #1. Getting somewhere being more difficult than it should be, the kids are demons, and you are sweaty and exhausted. Fun.

:( I can relate. I could share stories but I will spare you the asty details.
Maybe you should have Jake take the kids for the whole day and you just relax at home with a stack of movies and your favorite treats. (this usually works for me.)
Just an idea....

Wow.. what a week. I have had quite the week myself. I wish we lived close enough to help each other out. Maybe there is someone in your ward that can watch your kids for you next appointment? That would be so hard to take them to it. I don't know NYC, how far away is your dr. from you?

I seriously think you will go into labor early with all your troubles just getting to the dr. I hope you aren't one to have your baby on the subway.. ha ha

Oh Mel I'm sorry you had such a crazy week. Hopefully you have a better week this week! Love you! Ben has been trying to find a flight to New York. If we find a good deal we will call you to see when the best time to come is.

Mel that is so crazy! I can totally relate to ugly#1 as it only takes 1 bad trip with a subway to think about NEVER wanting to live here in NYC. And the dr. visit sounds like a nightmare that my kids would act out. Let me know if you need me to help watch your kids next time, I'm on the uws. And we still need to get together! amberkaya@gmail.com
