Two

On Lily's birthday we had plans to meet up with some friends back down in Philly.  We met at Penn's Landing, played in some water and went to a skating park.  That was a lot of fun!  It had been a long time since I had been on skates.

It was cute to watch Lily see everyone put on their skates and look around for where her skates might be.  This girl is not to be left out of anything anymore.  She is a part of the action.  Luckily they had these adjustable plastic trainer skates and she seemed to really enjoy them.
These kids had good attitudes, they persevered through lots of falls and were determined to get a hang of it.

We took a short stop at the Betsy Ross house.
And back home to do our family celebration.  It's not easy getting a picture of Lily opening her presents as the kids crowd around her.

Tommy got her dum dums because she loves dum dums.
Another favorite thing is "schloop" or ice cream (schloop is the sound you make pretending to lick ice cream)  I was pretty proud of this cake, it turned out pretty cute.

We lit them again because she loved it so much

Two lilies for our two year old Lily.
Hard to resist a toddler in pigtails right?
And it's a good thing I keep a pretty up to date journal on my computer, because she has already changed so much in just two months.  So here is my entry on or shortly after her birthday

·      She wakes up between 6:30-7:30 yelling out for Mom or Dad
·      She is a great eater but we often find an unfinished bowl of cereal on the table, or an unfinished bowl of fruit on the stairs, or an apple core somewhere in the house.
·      She is very independent and plays really well on her own or with her sisters or brother.
·      She loves to get silly with them, like jumping on the couch with Kate during Family Home Evening, or doing races with Tommy across the house.
·      She likes to put her hair in “prettys” (pigtails) but they usually don’t last
·      She makes the absolute best puppy dog face and even makes a fake sniffing sound.
·      She still naps!  Usually 1 ½ - 3 hours in the afternoon.
·      But she rarely falls asleep in the car
·      She likes “moomies” (movies) but can really only sit through tv shows like Curious George and Mickey Mouse.
·      Loves “Popporn”
·      Says “hunrey” for hungry
·      Will say “sorry” when we tell her to.
·      She is a great snuggler.  She loves “banbans” (bandaids) when she gets hurt.
·      A little timid about the pool.  I love when she tells me “like it” shaking her head when I try to put on her tube.
·      Loves playing with her babies, and loves seeing babies.
·      Counts, “One, Two, Three, Sic”
·      Like “ruffy”s but from a good distance.
·      She takes off her diaper at the end of church and gives it to us.
·      Is so good about saying “Thank you…mom” when I get her food or a toy.
·      Some favorite books recently, “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” “Go Away Big Green Monster”
·      She does NOT like going to bed at night, and sadly cries most every night.  She just can’t stand to miss out on any fun.  Life is too good.
How did we get so lucky to have this girl in our lives.  I feel like she brings the best out of everyone.  Her sisters and brother adore her.  They protect her and sympathize with her and help her get things and do things.  She is honestly the cutest little toddler girl in the world.  We love her more than words can say.  Now, if we could only keep her two forever!!

Cute 2 year old Lily! Getting back on roller skates would surely bring me throw out my back or something! You were so brave to try as were the kiddos. We had the same problem at Luke's birthday...so many helpers that a picture alone was an impossibility. And finally that cake is amazingly cute!
