For our big trip this summer we headed north to see Niagara Falls, Toronto Canada, Palmyra New York, and Ithaca (Finger Lakes). It was pretty much the best family vacation ever!
We were told the best views of the falls were on the Canada side. Since we all have passports we decided to cross the border. It felt good to go "international" and Jake was over the moon excited. He loves Canadians, plus he's never been. We weren't anticipating our cell phones to go out of service...something we just didn't think about. All of the sudden we were without a map, and it got a little tricky sometimes without the ability to call or text each other. Like the time Jake went to get the car in the parking lot a couple of blocks away, while I waited with all our luggage and kids. I waited for an hour wondering what could have possibly happened to him. Turns out a light was left on and our car battery was dead.
Niagara Falls has been on my bucket list for the past 8 years. It did not disappoint! I was giddy the entire time. Pictures don't do it much justice...something you just have to experience.
Falling at the falls :)
One of the highlights was the "Maid of the Mist" boat that took us right up close to the falls.
On the left there is the American and Bridal Veil Falls
And on the right is the Horseshoe Falls. Tommy LOVED the boat tour and kept asking if we could do it again. He thought it was pretty awesome that he got to keep his poncho too.
The "mist" off of the Horseshoe Falls was pretty crazy. It felt like we were in a good rainstorm.
A shot of our hotel. Jake did good on this one (with points from some credit card, we didn't have to pay for any hotels) We couldn't have gotten a better spot!! We could literally walk out the door and see the falls.
One morning we had brunch in a spaceship. The kids thought that was pretty cool. Definitely one of their highlights.
Our hotel pool with views of the falls...pretty awesome!
The town we stayed in was pretty crazy
"Journey behind the Falls" tour took us right next to and behind the Horseshoe Falls. Not as cool as we were expecting...especially for the price, but at least we don't have any regrets.
We of course had to get some chocolate and candy you can only find in Canada. Good stuff!
Did you know that they shine lights on the falls at night?? I had no idea, and I couldn't get enough of it! One night I went out on my own after the kids went to bed and soaked it all in.
Every few minutes the colors would change
Seriously spectacular!!!!

Love the view from the hotel, gorgeous! That town sure looked like a cartoon, silly Canadians. Sure am green with envy with all your traveling.
That looks like a great place to go! I am super jealous. I wish we lived closer to drive there. I had no idea they lit it up at night either that is awesome! Glad you guys had a great time.
I love trips with just our little family. Doesn't happen nearly enough, but they are great.
So awesome! I would love to see that someday too. I think it might be high time for me to make a bucket list so I can get serious about seeing more of this amazing planet! Kate has never looked more like than you than in these photos!
This trip is also on my bucket list. Super cool.
