Any Tips??
So, I've started potty training Rachel. She initiated it on her own a couple weeks ago, so I figured she was "ready". It's been just a few days since I dove into it and each day she's had one or two successes and lot of accidents. But it seems she's starting to really resent the potty more and more, like maybe she's scared of it. She'll sit on it when she doesn't need to go...and most the time she can acknowledge when she needs to go but won't go near it. Sorry for the graphic topic...but I would appreciate and welcome any and all advice. I realize every kid is different and there's lots of ways to approach it, but maybe hearing other success stories will give me motivation to keep with it. Or, should I just try again in a few months???

South Carolina...again
We found out that some of our best friends here will most likely be moving to Boston. It's going to be so sad to see them go, and I'm not sure how Rachel is going to take it, knowing that she can no longer go play at Andrew's house. They have the funnest relationship! Anyway, they invited us to go down to Charleston with them this last weekend and we had a fantastic time. We went to the Magnolia Plantation, which is where this petting zoo was. We could have spent all day there, Rachel was loving all the animals! What I love about this video is how much love you can see between daddy and daughter.

HE'S IN!!
We got an email from Fedex Friday afternoon saying a package was being delivered overnight from Duke...aauughh, talk about anxiety!...luckily we got a phone call from the admissions secretary a few hours later saying "congratulations!" So Jake did it. He's been accepted to the Cross-Continent Duke MBA program. He'll be starting in July and finishing up March of 2010. (So, we can already start our 2 year countdown!) His 3 residencies abroad include New Delhi India, Shanghai China, and oddly enough, Brussels Belgium :) We're really excited about the opportunity and I'm really proud of him. I'm just going to need to find some new hobbies or something to keep my sanity.
The other big news of the weekend is that Rachel is now in her new room in her big girl bed and has started the potty training process. It makes me a little sad to think about how fast she is growing up, but I sure love that lady, and I'm really proud of her too!

Time for bed
It's raining outside and Rachel's taking a nap. For those of you who are curious about the interview at Duke, it went really well...we should find out in about 2 weeks. If he gets in we'll stay here in Charlotte as it's an executive program that's online with every 10th week spent at Durham or abroad for a residency. So some potentially really big changes in the next little while for this Herway family. Two kids, Jake working and going to school...traveling without me :( We'll keep you posted! Other than that not much else is new. I thought I'd just post a few random recent pictures and videos. Rachel's bedtime routine keeps getting longer and longer. She puts on quite a show for us each night. She loves to wear her nightgown or "pretty skirt" and put on her Cinderella slippers and headband. She's pretty obsessed with Cinderella right now, as you might be able to tell.
