HOT

We are currently experiencing some really oppressive heat hear in the southeast! It's all you hear anyone talking about right now. You walk outside for a second and literally melt...even at 7:00 in the morning. So we've been stuck inside. Rachel didn't take it too well yesterday, we both went crazy. But today we handled things a little better. We brought back the TV...

But that only lasts so long

Then I decided to make some play dough...Rachel loved it. I made it "balue" cause that's her favorite color. Well, at least it's the only one she recognizes right now and I just love hearing her say it.

Jake was really impressed when he came home today and learned that I made homemade play dough, homemade salsa with my home grown tomatoes, and homemade bubbles with dish detergent. I got creative because I just didn't want to leave the house. Tomorrow is supposedly going to be worse...103 degrees and 50% humidity. Anybody got anymore ideas???

Go crazy... maybe have a pool party in your bath tub with the neighborhood kids? Have an unbirthday party? I don't know! It's hot here too. Is there a children's museum nearby?
Those pictures are so cute. Rachel just looks so cuddly in her beanbag and blankie.

What I love is the feet crossed and carressing her blankey on her pink beanbag chair. Now that looks comfy! Ahhhh!
We had 108 in Greece but had the pool and beach. What you need is the pool from the apartments, huh? It's POURING rain here and one mom said to me, "are you going crazy?" "nope, all my kids are working and out of the house!" But she is going crazy, that's for sure. No fun to be forced to stay indoors especially with little ones. Sanity vs. TV.....

Oh, PS. Homegrown tomatoes! WOW!!! I can grow rhubarb and that's about it. I'm impressed. Truly.

Maybe my last comment: Rachel's hair is really getting sunbleached...Jake had those big brown eyes and bleached hair as well when he was little. Fun for me to see that in her! (at least in the pics with the play dough)

Dude, I am impressed too!!! Very creative. Sometimes it is just worth it to stay home so you don't ever have to get into a hot car. My kids like fingerpaints (I put them on the bathroom floor and then straight to a nice long bath, you can hang the artwork on the garage door so Dad has something nice to come home too), making pudding, puzzles, dance party, playdates, oh and the other night we made a "tent" in the basement and went camping. It has been pretty hot here. We go swimming like three times a week. We are now in Driggs and it is nice to be able to play outside again.
Rachel is so beautiful. I miss you guys. Too bad we can't hang out in doors together. :(

Hey Herways! I found your blog through Kristen (formerly known as Cowser). Rachel is soooo cute! You may not know that Brad and I are expecting a baby girl in October. We can't wait to have a little girl as cute as yours! We are so excited! Check us out at coys-r-us.blogspot.com

My sister and her family just moved to SC. Boiling Springs--is that anywhere near you guys?

Have you heard about using shaving cream? In class, you can spray some on their desk. Then they spread it out with their hands and spell or draw in it. So...Rachel could have fun drawing in it! And all you do is keep wiping it away and it disappears. (It also cleans the desk)

And I have to agree with the dance party idea...my kids in Cali loved it when we had dance parties! Um...what else? Make popsicles! Oh frozen bananas are delicious. We ate those as kids...just peel a banana, cut in half and throw in freezer! Or Rachel can make her own jello pieces with cookie cutters! Well, good luck with the heat and have fun!

Have Aunt Colie come? In 2 weeks I'll be there to play so you can relax! (although I think Rache and I would still like the playdough...)

Man, I know just what you are going through. There has been an excessive heat warning here in Oklahoma every day for the past two weeks, and riley and I are officially driving each other crazy.
I have nearby relatives who have a swimming pool, and that has been a lifesaver. Still though, you can only swim so much, ya know?

So, Brady wants to know how long the line is to date Rachel. I promise he asked me to ask you guys that! She is such a cutie!
